About
Conducts in-services and trainings (e.g. bus driver training, CPR, First Aid, discipline procedures, safety meetings, etc.) for the purpose of presenting, reinforcing and/or developing bus driver and bus aide skills in accordance with federal, state and District guidelines. Evaluates performance of bus drivers, driver applicants and bus aides for the purpose of ensuring that basic skills levels are met and are in compliance with federal, District and state certification requirements. Informs bus drivers and driver applicants (e.g. rules, regulations, laws, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, requesting follow-up action and/or implementing procedures. Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail. Oversees bus driver licensing, training requirements and certificate status (e.g. driver's licenses, physicals, drug screenings, CPR/First Aid, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Performs functions of a school bus driver for the purpose of meeting the district's transportation service needs. Prepares a variety of documents and reports (e.g. activity reports, training handouts, safety information guidelines, driver and bus aide evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or training materials to bus driver, other district personnel and outside agencies as required by established policies and/or regulatory guidelines. Responds to a variety of inquiries from staff, parents, District personnel, etc. for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel. Schedules training and testing of and/or by non-district personnel for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district policies and established regulatory requirements. Instructs drivers regarding district regulations, penalties for infraction of rules, or safety and conservation measures. Rides with drivers to detect errors in handling students or driving vehicle. Analyzes accident reports obtained from governmental agencies to determine driver's need for additional training. Confers with department heads concerning such problems as accident rates and abuse of equipment and recommends measures to improve safety records and to conserve equipment. Drives a regular bus route as assigned by transportation director. Demonstrates group presentation skills. Displays authority to work independently. Makes self-available to staff. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Follows policies and procedures. Prioritizes, plans and schedules safety trainings. Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. Completes safety trainings in accordance with state and federal laws.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED, Associate's degree preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess valid AZ commercial drivers license (CDL). Certification in area of transportation safety as required by state and federal laws. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Terms of Employment: Salary based on Grade F of the approved Classified Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board. 12-month position, 8 hours per day.
