Job Description Summary As Engineering Technical Lead for I&C Embedded Software at GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s (GVH), you will lead and mentor a team responsible for developing and maintaining embedded software controls and instrumentation systems that enable nuclear power plants to operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably. The role focuses on work planning, technical approach, design assurance, and execution excellence. Essential Responsibilities Lead the preparation of high‑to‑low work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across lifecycle phases of Engineer‑Procure‑Construct or new product introduction using applicable practices, guides, and tools. Support project engineering or management by tracking execution metrics, status, issues, risks, mitigation or recovery plans, and proactively identifying changes in scope. Drive compliance with scope, detailed work planning, budget, overall schedule, applicable design processes, and discipline‑specific practices and tools, including design and technical reviews. Lead day‑to‑day operations and follow‑up to ensure deliverables are produced and commitments are met on‑spec., on‑budget, and on‑schedule. Coordinate proactively and inclusively with the overall team across engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives. Collaborate with project management, project engineering, support functions, and others to drive project completion. Identify, confirm, document, and lead the resolution of technical, risk, or other emergent issues. Provide technical oversight and mentorship to ensure system designs and deliverables comply with requirements throughout design release to manufacturing or supplier, including production, validation, installation, and commissioning tests. Support strategy, plan, statement of work preparation, and resource loading implementation. Assist with hosting learning sessions, knowledge capture, and transfer initiatives. Use a variety of tools for requirements, design, change, configuration, and document management. Champion nuclear safety culture and ensure compliance with GVH policies, quality management system, and corrective action program. Deliver work with integrity, safety, security, quality, and on‑time output. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent 4‑year technical degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development, including deep working knowledge of C programming language and software development tools (GitLab, IDEs, debuggers, etc.). Minimum of 10 years of experience with C coding conventions, unit testing, and integration testing of software. Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent, or preferably team‑based, system design or technical reviews, including interfacing with requirements management, independent verification, and validation. Eligibility to access U.S. export‑controlled information and the ability to obtain U.S. Government authorization when required. Desired Characteristics Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, electric power system, and field engineering. Competency in industry standards IEEE, IEC, and quality standards. 10 years of experience in the commercial nuclear industry working in plant instrumentation application software, control and monitoring software system design, including implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning. 10 years of application, field installation, and testing of systems and equipment. Competency in modeling and test data collection tools. Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, balanced, and results‑oriented. Proven track record of delivering commitments on specification, on budget, and on schedule. Strong verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences. Adaptive, able to quickly learn diverse organizational interfaces with professional astuteness. Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify, influence, and implement better ways to conduct activities or processes. Solid technical writing skills focused on requirements and design documents. Effective use of data structures and algorithms. Experience with MISRA‑C or similar coding standards is desirable. Experience in product, instrument, system design verification, validation, and qualification. Active contributor to creative solutions and challenges to status quo. Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement.
