Job Description The corporate quality engineer ensures regulatory compliance, adherence to customer‑specific requirements, and alignment with OEM maintenance manuals and publications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced environment with a mix of manufacturing and repair processes with diverse customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality procedures to comply with FAA regulations, OEM publications (e.g., EMS, CMMs, AMMs, SBs), and QMS protocols.
Support site with compliance with applicable regulations, including FAA, EASA, CAAC, etc.
Manage and drive improvement of quality metrics such as COPQ, inspection findings, escapes, and nonconformities.
Lead root cause investigations and implement robust corrective/preventive actions using industry methodologies (e.g., 8D, fishbone, 5 Whys).
Interface with OEMs, DERs, and regulatory representatives to ensure traceability and acceptability of repairs and components.
Oversee internal and external audits, including regulatory (FAA, etc.), industry (AS9100), and customer surveillance audits.
Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Six Sigma, and mistake‑proofing (Poka‑Yoke).
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Process FMEAs and Repair Risk Assessments.
Participate in cross‑functional teams for new repair capabilities and engineering changes, ensuring regulatory and customer alignment.
Train and mentor personnel on quality policies, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance best practices.
Lead efforts to systemically reduce defects through implementation of AS9145 and AS13100 initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality role within a Part 145 repair station or aerospace manufacturing.
In‑depth knowledge of FAA regulations, AS9110/AS9100 standards, and industry guidance documents.
Working knowledge of OEM technical publications (e.g., CMMs, AMMs, SBs, SILs).
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.
Special process experience or awareness is a plus.
