About
Location: Manassas, VA – hybrid position with remote work options and flexible schedules.
What will you do? The selected candidate will work with network technologies to further advance the capabilities of the Navy submarine combat system. This work will include:
Design and implementation of VLAN and VxLAN
Configure and deploy network switch
Test and validate prior to deployment
Monitor and troubleshoot
Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration baselines, runbooks, and all network and switch changes
Do you have what it takes? Required skills:
Must have a 4‑year degree in Computer Science or related field
4+ years of experience as a Network Engineer
2–4 years of Linux experience
Network design/system architect experience, including tuning low‑level networks
Demonstrated expertise designing, implementing, and troubleshooting LAN and VLAN networks at L2/L3 levels
Proven hands‑on experience developing and implementing switch configurations
Experience with network devices from major vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or equivalent)
Hands‑on proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Initiative, innovation, and resourcefulness
US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Successful completion of background check
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
Understanding of OSI and TCP/IP networking models
Understanding of Layer 2 protocols
Solid knowledge of Layer 3 routing concepts and protocols
Proficiency with VPN technologies, firewall rules, and network security fundamentals
Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and network address management
Understanding of high‑availability and disaster recovery concepts
