Alternative Transportation Programs Manager

The Department of Sustainability Initiatives at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Alternative Transportation Programs Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department's alternative transportation and micro-mobility programs and is the catalyst behind creating a car-lite culture for campus faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for creating initiatives and proposing infrastructure that will make biking, walking, riding transit, and other forms of micro-mobility an effective and viable option to single occupancy vehicles for commuting to and from campus; and increasing communication and outreach within the campus community, encouraging climate-friendly options for campus commuters. Also responsible for overseeing the creation of a Transportation Demand Management Plan for the university and for guiding implementation of adopted initiatives from the TDM plan.

The ideal candidate will have technical skills and existing knowledge related to alternative transportation, combined with interpersonal skills allowing them to engage effectively across the entire university community (students, staff, faculty, and upper administration). They will be a strong writer and communicator. They must be able to work independently and in collaboration with multiple stakeholders within and outside of the university.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support the Sustainability Director, Parking & Transportation team, Facilities, Police and other campus stakeholders with developing and implementing strategic short- and long-term transportation plans for the campus; support strategic planning for campus Transportation Demand Management through conducting surveys, data collection, analysis, and program performance evaluation.
  • Serve as primary liaison to coordinate monthly transit pass program and lead coordination with regional transit agencies and alternative transportation providers to implement commute solutions that promote and improve non-single occupancy vehicle modes, such as public transit, micromobility, ridesharing, and biking; provide oversight on Georgia Commute Options partnership and report out on monthly utilization metrics.
  • Coordinate with the Communications team to develop and manage promotional content, including web updates, articles, and newsletters, to advance alternative transportation initiatives. Lead presentations, organize and participate in campus events to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Policy Steering Committee to create, analyze, and modify TDM policies. Ensure compliance with governmental transportation regulations and policies.
  • Manage micro-mobility initiatives; conduct regular oversight of micro-mobility infrastructure, including racks, striping, signage, and fix-it stations, to identify and recommend improvements; oversee front end operations of EV charging stations; research transportation grant opportunities, prepare applications, and manage compliance reporting; Oversee special projects assigned by senior leadership.
  • Support annual PantherExpress service analysis to evaluate schedules, routes, and stop/zone efficiency. Assist with route design, schedule development, and report preparation on the performance and usage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum hiring qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred hiring qualifications: Master's of Urban and Regional Planning, AICP Certification, strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience working across diverse stakeholder groups, experience with GIS.
