About
Overview York School District One is seeking a dynamic and experienced technology professional to serve as a Network Engineer. This critical role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing the district’s network infrastructure to support teaching, learning, and operational excellence.
Position Type: Full‑Time.
Network Infrastructure Management
Design, implement, and maintain the district’s wired and wireless network infrastructure.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
Manage switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices across multiple sites.
Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and inventory of equipment.
Security and Compliance
Implement and manage network security measures to protect district systems and data.
Monitor for security vulnerabilities and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and federal requirements related to data privacy and cybersecurity.
Maintain firewall policies, content filtering systems, and secure access controls.
Systems Integration and Support
Support integration of instructional and administrative systems, including learning platforms, VoIP, and cloud‑based services. Collaborate with technology staff to ensure seamless connectivity for devices and applications.
Provide advanced technical support for complex network‑related issues.
Assist with deployment and support of new technologies across the district.
Planning and Implementation
Participate in long‑range technology planning aligned with district goals.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure.
Assist in the design and implementation of network upgrades and expansions.
Support E‑rate processes and documentation as needed.
Collaboration and Communication
Work collaboratively with district leadership, school administrators, and staff to support instructional and operational needs.
Communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
Provide guidance and training to IT staff on network systems and best practices.
Disaster Recovery and Continuity
Develop and maintain network disaster recovery and backup systems.
Ensure systems are resilient and recovery procedures are tested regularly.
Support business continuity planning to minimize downtime and disruption.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in network administration or engineering, preferably in a K–12 or public sector environment.
Certifications: Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+).
Skills: Network design and troubleshooting, cybersecurity practices, systems integration, analytical thinking, project management, and strong communication skills.

Working Conditions The Network Engineer will work in both office and school environments, with some travel between district sites required. Flexibility is necessary for after‑hours maintenance, emergency response, and system upgrades to minimize disruption to school operations.
Terms of Employment 240 days; salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
