General ResponsibilityThis individual will be responsible for the accounting-related processes at the Wichita plant including budgeting, costing, capital spending, inventory and productivity. Acts as the liaison between finance and plant operations. This is demonstrated by working with the functional managers and being responsible for the forecast, reporting out for the facility at OPEX, and being recognized locally as a member of the plant management team.
Job ResponsibilitiesCommitted to working in a team-oriented environment, both in the plant, and across all facilities and shared functions. Represent the Finance Team with a professional and customer service based attitude. Focusing on costing and inventory activities to provide informative analyses of the operations for division & local management. Provide timely and accurate information to internal customers. Provides finance training in order to strengthen the overall power of the team (both in transferring functions to other finance team members and within the Wichita management team). Practices efficient time management and organization skills in order to meet all deadlines. Develop Wichita manufacturing and support budgets. Maintains accurate manufacturing cost file and has taken on responsibility for the divisions cost rolls. Forecasts variances accurately, and works with the management team during the month to ensure that the financial and operational goals are met. Prepare monthly closing requirements to properly reflect current financial status of the plant (JE's, walks, review of recons). Analyzes operating variances on a monthly basis for MUV, and FBV and provides recommendations for improvement. Analyzes and approves productivity, cost saving measures, PCN's and capital expenditures.
ClimateMust work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization's success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Some irregular hours required.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Demonstrated understanding of managerial accounting as it relates to a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 3 or more years' experience with cost accounting combined with advanced knowledge of PC spreadsheets, databases and mainframe standard cost and inventory systems. Ability to understand and assimilate new ideas and manage change. Willingness to aggressively set and achieve goals with a minimum of direction. Ability to interact with all levels of associates and work in a team environment. Good planning and organizational skills combined with strong written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical and technical accounting skills. Microsoft Excel proficiency is a must Strong leadership skills. Strong problem solving and decision making abilities. Attention to detail. Preferable Characteristics: Prefer development towards higher levels of responsibility and accountability. Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Lean manufacturing experience. CPA/CMA or MBA a plus. SAP experience.
