About the Opportunity Our client, a leader in Higher Education, is looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join their team. This role involves managing and maintaining the wired and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for the institution's critical systems. This is a high-impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can work independently and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Manage and maintain the wired and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Extreme Networks, Aruba Networks, Juniper Networks, F5, and Ivanti equipment.
Administer and support LAN, WAN, VOIP, VPN, BGP, and Internet.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, implementing solutions to optimize network performance.
Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standards.
Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the network infrastructure remains current and effective.
Required Skills & Experience
4+ years of experience in network engineering.
Deep expertise in networking protocols and configuration of equipment from vendors including Extreme Networks, Aruba Networks, and Juniper Networks. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
Proficiency with Active Directory, Systems Management, and Access Control List (ACL) protocols is highly important.
Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, VOIP, and security protocols.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage your own time effectively, and deal with ambiguity.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with different departments and stakeholders.
Experience in the Higher Education industry is a plus.
