About
Position Description As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of tasks:
Perform database administration activities, including the installation and maintenance of database management software and the design and implementation of predictive analysis.
Configure, provision, operate, and administer database management systems and related software, as well as backend storage server and hardware platforms.
Design, install, monitor, maintain, and fine‑tune production databases while ensuring high data availability.
Contribute to the development and implementation of database policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and availability, including software updates.
Collaborate closely with the development, business, and operations teams to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
Take ownership of the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.
Work full‑time in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) with flexible working hours.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph adjudication or active TS with the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
Bachelor’s degree in a field of study applicable to the position with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
A minimum of 8 years of experience with SQL Server database administration.
Active Security+ (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Level 2).
Ability to install, configure, and maintain database management systems according to the project requirements.
Perform regular backups of all databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access control and encryption.
Monitor database performance and optimize queries and indexes for improved efficiency.
Handle database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss; troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
Good communication skills to collaborate with other teams, such as application developers and system administrators, to ensure seamless integration and performance.
Experience and knowledge in the realm of DOD policies, best practices, and industry standards for database administration.
Experience with implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
Experience with Microsoft Windows Operating System; experience in upgrading major database instances.
Ability to work closely with system admins and ISSO on application upgrades, documentation, and STIG remediation.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring (Index, Table, Queries, and Stored procedures).
Familiar with writing SQL queries to generate system data reports, modify data as necessary, etc.
Experience in database design and development.
Experience architecting, designing, developing, and managing databases using relational databases.
Details Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
