Your impact Knack Works is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Junior to Mid-Level DevOps engineer to support the design, implementation and maintenance of our infrastructure in the Chantilly, VA office. The role is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience managing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, servers, networks and IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security and reliable operation.
Duties/Task and Responsibilities
Proficient with Windows and Linux systems
Manage systems hardware and software infrastructure for both on prem and in the cloud
Provide hardware and software support for users, customers and personnel
Collaborate with a team of engineers to design, implement and test features and functionality to support Knack Works’ high performance computing products
Support the development of system documentation
Develop and define techniques and tools to support the most efficient solution to meet program needs
Maintain and provide technical expertise in all areas of hardware, software and networking
Ability to troubleshoot systems, performance, and security issues
Perform hardware and software installation, cabling coordination, and basic networking
Follow change management and implementation best practices
Collaborate with systems, security, and support teams as needed
Scripting experience (e.g., Powershell, C#, C++, XML, JSON, etc.)
Execute and coordinate the end-to-end remediation of critical and high-risk vulnerabilities, including analysis, patching, mitigation, and validation.
Deploy, upgrade and manage containerized applications in a Kubernetes Cluster
Build containerized applications to include building containers, writing helm charts, and testing helm deployments in Dev and Test Kubernetes Clusters
Automate infrastructure tasks using tools such as Ansible, Python or Bash
Here’s what you’ll need Qualifications
3-7 years of hands‑on Windows Server OS and Linux system administration experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Solid understanding of:
Experience with installation and implementation of hardware, software and networking equipment
Familiarity with common hardware vendors (e.g., HP, Dell, etc.) and cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation
Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving and analytical skills
Good communication and collaborations skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Experience with LAN/WAN operations and protocols
Experience working in development and operational environments
Current active TS with SCI eligibility and willingness to take a polygraph exam
Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification within the first 6 months of employment
Experience working in development and operational networking environments
Desired Requirements
VMware vSphere configuration and maintenance experience
A current TS/SCI with Poly
Experience with:
System monitoring tools
Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure or similar)
Experience working in an enterprise or multi-site environments

The base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $155,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
