About
Assessments and interventions are timely and appropriate and indicated by resident condition. Recognizes emergencies promptly and responds in an appropriate manner. Allows/encourages resident participation in decision making. Applies knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals; e.g uses 2 patient identifiers, labels specimens at bedside. Answers call lights/responds to requests from residents promptly. Assures that hourly rounding is done by assessing toilet needs, pain, positioning, possessions within easy reach and comfort of the environment. Demonstrates an awareness of fall prevention techniques. Helps patients at risk, communicate that risk to other caregivers, reports all falls or assisted falls. Engages in infection control practices, uses personal protective equipment appropriately, is diligent with hand washing, demonstrates knowledge of isolation procedures, infections/contagious diseases, etc. Documentation is timely and accurately reflects resident condition, progress and events. Does not use banned abbreviations in documentation. Resident hand off follows established procedures, reports are promptly given and received with an opportunity for questions. Practices with ethical, regulatory and legal guidelines applicable to position. Demonstrates familiarity with the electronic documentation system and uses it effectively and efficiently. Demonstrates ability to access policy and procedures by electronic use. Treats residents/families as guests. Introduces self, is attentive to needs, acknowledges and assists people waiting for attention, immediately acts to resolve problems. Respects privacy and confidentiality of residents, knocks when entering a room, pulls curtains, keeps resident information confidential. Responds to feedback from resident satisfaction surveys by adapting behavior in a way to improve satisfaction. Over communicates to residents regarding delays, and what to expect next. Maintains professional appearance and demeanor, well groomed, observes dress code, communicates, refrains from discussing hospital business in the community. Creates a positive learning environment for students and new team members. Demonstrates acceptance and tolerance and maintains a friendly, helpful attitude. Actively engages in the mentoring process. Is a team player with a cooperative spirit. Develops and maintains positive working relationships across department boundaries, demonstrates a willingness to help others (in any department) and a desire to do what's best for the resident and organization. Required Education and Experience
Completion of CNA program with certification or a student enrolled in a nursing program.
Licenses/Certifications
CNA certification CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
Iroquois Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed hospital located in Watseka, Illinois. The hospital facility is comprised of clinical and diagnostic services which are dedicated to providing high quality health care services to the community. These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.
