This position will be based out of Washington, D.C. and will offer remote flexibility.
You will be joining our amazing BigBear.ai team to provide development for legacy and existing systems, whether it’s building out new features, enhancements, or bug fixes and adding features that will allow our successor system to integrate with older legacy systems so that both systems can co-exist. This position will require 2‑3 days of onsite support with remaining days providing developer support remotely.
What you will do As a Lead Data Engineer, some of your duties will require you to independently manage multiple complex work assignments with minimal oversight and review. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. You will operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. You will contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable, applying comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high‑impact assignments. You will plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performance results, and recommend major changes affecting short‑term project growth and success. You will function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and may supervise others.
What you need to have
Must maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with CI poly or be eligible for a poly
Master’s degree and 12+ years of experience with application or software development, with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years; or Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of experience with application or software development as a substitute to a Master’s degree.
Experience using Node.js with TypeScript, SQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch
Experience with Angular, NestJS, JSON, Java, JavaScript, SharePoint, XML, VBA, Oracle, MongoDB, Solr, SQL, Open AI, or other AI technologies
Experience with Docker containers and/or Red Hat OpenShift
Experience creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative, cross‑functional team
Ability to work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
