Service Line/Section: Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations.
Reporting Location: Various Locations.
Workdays & Hours: Mon - Fri, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Description Of Duties / Essential Functions
Troubleshoot, maintain, manage, and upgrade existing instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and reliability.
Research and analyze causes of failures; repair, calibrate, replace, and install new equipment/components and related hardware to maximize functionality.
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, clean, and continuous operating conditions.
Prepare and update various records, logs, and reports.
Respond to emergency calls during and after hours for various types of instrumentation and low voltage electrical failures and shutdowns.
Document and monitor work assignments in a Work Management System.
Research technical product specifications.
Inspect field locations to determine appropriate types and placement of instrumentation components for installation.
Working Conditions This position may involve considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on an occasional basis, and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are occasional exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
Minimum Requirements Educational Requirements: Associate’s degree in computer science, instrumentation, electronics, or equivalent, such as certification in a technical/specialty program up to three years.
Experience Requirements: One year of experience in design, installation, operation, and/or maintenance of computerized data networks or industrial control systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
License Requirement: May be required to obtain a valid class “C” or higher Texas Water or Wastewater Plant Operator's license within one year of employment.
Preferences:
Experience in maintaining medium/low voltage systems, knowledge of electrical controls, or holding an active Texas Electrical Journeyman License.
Eligible veteran applicants with necessary qualifications.
