The Emerson T&M Global Sales & Marketing (GSM) Analytics team partners with teams across Sales, Marketing, Web, Services, Commercial Strategy, and Global/Regional Operations to enable data‑driven decision‑making and deliver actionable insights that drive growth. We are seeking an experienced Principal Analytics Consultant to serve as a technical leader, advance our data capabilities, and develop high‑impact commercial analytics solutions. This role directly supports GSM by delivering robust datasets, high‑quality dashboards, and ad‑hoc insights, while partnering closely with key functions including IT, the Data Office, Finance, and Business Units. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring our data infrastructure supports robust analytics capabilities as we modernize our tech stack toward Power BI and Snowflake. The ideal candidate blends strong technical expertise with commercial acumen and communicates clearly with executive and technical audiences. Responsibilities Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders across Global Sales & Marketing, Regional Leadership, Commercial Strategy, Global/Regional Operations, IT, and the Data Office. Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify, evaluate, and implement actionable business performance measures globally and regionally. Act as a thought leader by proactively proposing analytics approaches, frameworks, and techniques that accelerate commercial insight and growth. Translate business questions into analytical frameworks, data requirements, and executive-ready insights and recommendations. Leverage modern cloud tools to develop scalable datasets and optimized models that support reporting, analysis, forecasting, and advanced analytics. Collaborate with IT, the Data Office, and other internal analytics teams on transformational data modernization project. The scope covers migration to Snowflake & Power BI and will include data model transformation, testing and validation, documentation, and change management. Perform data engineering tasks including data profiling, transformation, modeling, and optimization across a modern enterprise cloud data platform. Develop optimized insight solutions; design, develop, test, and maintain dashboards and data products using Power BI, Tableau, and Salesforce CRMA Analytics. Apply AI, ML, and generative analytics techniques to enhance workflows and accelerate insight generation. Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and documentation standards to ensure trusted, repeatable insights. Contribute to governance efforts including metadata, lineage, data standards, and analytics DevOps practices. Mentor and coach junior analysts on technical skills, analytical techniques, and stakeholder engagement. Establish, refine, and develop best practices for analysis, dashboard development, and data storytelling. Ensure all analytics outputs are accurate, reliable, secure, and closely aligned to business objectives. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field; advanced degree a plus. + years of experience in analytics, data engineering, reporting, or business intelligence, ideally in global BB environments. High proficiency in business intelligence & visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA), with strong preference for Power BI and experience migrating Tableau assets into Power BI. Strong SQL expertise and experience with relational databases; ability to write efficient, production-ready queries. Experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, test design, data analysis, and delivering clear recommendations aligned to business outcomes. Experience with database and programming tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and Qubole (Hive/Spark/Presto); Python and R are a plus. Data modeling experience (star schema, semantic layers, ELT) and familiarity with designing scalable analytical datasets. Exposure to modern analytics DevOps practices (Git‑based version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing) and ability to help govern analytics DevOps direction in partnership with IT and Data Office. Experience supporting data platform migration efforts, including testing, validation, and documentation. Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, set expectations, and consistently deliver high‑quality work under deadlines. Data storytelling expertise with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. Experience uplifting analytics maturity, coaching peers, and contributing to team standards and best practices. Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with cross‑functional stakeholders and act as a thought leader in applying analytics to commercial challenges.
