Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description Designs, develops, operates, and maintains embedded software and firmware components for safety‑critical avionics systems. Applies engineering standards, processes, and tools across the full software development life cycle. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users, and cross‑functional technical personnel.
What you’ll be responsible for
Design, develop, test, and debug device drivers, boot loaders, and built‑in‑test libraries for safety‑critical avionics mission computers
Develop in C targeting the LynxOS/LynxElement Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS)
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on software/FPGA/hardware interfaces
Integrate custom‑designed hardware and FPGAs with software in a lab environment
Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation
Participate in certification activities including requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
Required Experience & Skills
Extensive embedded software development experience (16+ years with BS, or 14+ years with MS)
Proficiency in C programming for embedded/real‑time environments
Experience with Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Familiarity with device driver development and boot loader design
Experience supporting safety‑critical or certifiable software systems
FPGA integration experience
Nice‑to‑haves
Experience with LynxOS or LynxElement RTOS specifically
Background in avionics or defense systems
Familiarity with DO‑178C or similar safety‑critical certification standards
Education Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Pay & Benefits Summary Hourly rate: $65.00 – $90.00 / hr. based on years of experience and education level
