Preconstruction Manager

We are representing a specialized concrete contractor seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating and preconstruction efforts across both residential and commercial projects. This is a leadership role with a strong emphasis on innovation, client engagement, and team mentorship. The ideal candidate is results-driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about building strong teams while shaping long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate the company's value proposition and market positioning strategy
  • Mentor and coach estimating professionals and PM/Estimators through growth plans and performance reviews
  • Ensure a consistent and seamless client experience across all preconstruction phases
  • Build and implement a unit business plan covering strategic goals, staffing, client acquisition, and long-term growth initiatives
  • Lead estimating and proposal strategy sessions; deliver timely, accurate, and compelling estimates
  • Evaluate project risks and partner with senior leadership on mitigation strategies
  • Build and maintain strong subcontractor and trade partner networks
  • Oversee estimate reviews, subcontractor scopes, and proposal documentation
  • Guide project handoffs and kickoff meetings for smooth transitions to operations
  • Drive contract negotiations and finalize pricing and terms with legal and executive teams
  • Present project strategies and proposals to clients and design teams with confidence
  • Contribute to value engineering, design progress tracking, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Manage bid pipeline, win/loss tracking, and pursuit reporting
  • Maintain historical cost databases to support budgeting and feasibility studies
  • Collaborate on manpower planning, staffing forecasts, and scheduling
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related discipline 3+ years of commercial GC experience requiredOR Associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant construction experience
  • Strong analytical mindset with proactive problem-solving ability
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Deep knowledge of estimating, bidding, and project delivery methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software tools
  • Driven, detail-oriented, and committed to quality and client satisfaction
