Summary The Manager of System Administration oversees a team of System Administrators responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise systems across two data centers. This role ensures system reliability, logical security, performance optimization, and effective disaster recovery operations. The manager partners with cross‑functional IT teams to troubleshoot complex issues, strengthen infrastructure stability, and support ongoing business operations.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of System Administrators to support daily operations and long‑term technical growth.
Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of core systems and infrastructure across multiple environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, outages, and system disruptions.
Manage logical security, including system user accounts, permission structures, groups, and role‑based access control.
Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and configuration management for optimized system performance.
Administer enterprise backup and disaster recovery technologies, including NetBackup and Veeam.
Collaborate with engineering, security, and other IT groups to coordinate solutions and maintain operational alignment.
Qualifications Minimum Experience
5+ years of IT systems experience with hands‑on system administration.
Preferred Experience
Prior management or team leadership experience within IT or system administration.
Experience managing or supporting multi‑site or data center environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Technical Skills
IBM/Lenovo hardware, Netapp Storage, ESXi, VMware
Netbackup/Veeam
Strong Linux/RedHat based skills
Strong Communications skills to effectively lead team
Drive a continuous improvement culture focusing on documentation, automation, and operational maturity

Compensation and Benefits At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $60,989 - $200,500. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.
