We’re seeking a
Staff Java/Data Engineer
to join our growing Data Engineering team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining components in our Transaction Store stack, which manages digital banking data such as Accounts, Transactions, and Customers in the personal banking domain. You are expected to lead the development and be instrumental in translating business requirements into scalable, production‑ready solutions with minimal oversight.
You will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior developers, establishing and evolving development guidelines, designing and building reusable components, and contributing significantly to the overall architecture and design of our analytics platform.
You’ll work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure solutions align with development standards and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the development lifecycle, delivering high‑performance, reliable systems that meet our uptime and scalability expectations.
Requirements
10+ years
of experience in software development.
5+ years
of hands‑on experience in cloud‑based Data Engineering solutions.
5+ years
of hands‑on experience in API development with API first mindset.
Expertise in
Java, Python, PySpark, REST APIs, Data Pipelines for streaming and batch jobs, and File Processing.
Proficiency with
NoSQL databases like Bigtable and AlloyDB.
Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance automation and improve overall productivity.
Strong grasp of
data warehousing
and
database design principles.
Advanced
SQL
skills and experience with
query optimization.
Proven ability to manage
large‑scale datasets
and build
high‑performance applications.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to take full ownership of solution design, implementation, and release.
Familiarity with
GIT workflows
for version control.
Hands‑on experience with
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
or similar cloud ecosystems.
Experience with
Terraform
for infrastructure provisioning and management.
Experience with
CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, contribute to solution design, and take full ownership of implementation and release cycles.
Bonus: Exposure to BI tools such as Looker, experience with Bigtable, Redis, Databricks, Java, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Preferred
Understanding of
Data Platforms, Data Warehouse centric, and Lakehouse centric architectures.
Familiarity with
modular and extensible platforms that support dynamic feature invocation.
Background in
highly regulated industries , especially
financial services or banking.
