Qualifications :
The Senior SQL Database Administrator must hold the following minimum skills andexpertise:
8+years’experience in SQL database administration supporting&managing databases in production environment.
5+ years’ experience in the following areas:
Installing, configuring,&supportingMSSQL Server in High Availability Group configurations.
T-SQL&ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers,&views to automate maintenance functions.
3+ years’ experience in the following areas:
Serving asteamleader,working as part of team&independently to assign/review immediate tasks, set priorities,maintaintask progress,validateteam members’ work consistent with organizational goals and deadlines.
Mentoring junior personnel on proper practices/procedures.
Planning&implementing security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification,ordisclosureIAWindustry best practices&DISA STIGs.
RequiresTS/SCI clearance with SBI&ability toattainSI, TK, G, HCS,&NATO Secret clearance.
RequiresMicrosoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) OR SQL Server 2016/SQL Database Administration Certification.
RequiresDoD 8140.03 IAT Level II/Intermediate certification.
Responsibilities :
Provide database administration&management support for Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) inMSSQLserver-based environment hosting databases across supported networks for various .NET applications.
Maintain quality of service&availability of RDMSs byestablishing/enforcing organizational defined standards ensuring performance, integrity,and security of databases through daily system checks; record100% of findings and statuses to IT Portal.
Responsible formaintaining, reporting,&updatingdaily checklists.
Ensure SQL servers&instances have latest DISA STIGs applied within 30 calendar days of release and uploaded to STIG management portals where available; notify any critical findings that cannot be remediated within 3 days.
Manipulate database objects&develop stored procedures, stored functions,&packageswhen needed based on customer requirements.
Ensure healthy&reliable data replicationmaintainedusing technologies such as availability groups, etc.
Monitor performance&manage parameters to provide fast query responses to ‘front end’ users optimizing code and stored procedures whileassistingapplication developers with database requirements.
Configure&utilizedatabase connectivity tools and utilities while supporting developers, programmers, and engineers during software development.
Map out conceptual design for database enhancements, considering both ‘back end’ organization of data and ‘front end’ accessibility for enduser.
Research, test, implementnew versions of Database Management System (DBMS) for inclusion into infrastructure.
Implement security requirements for least privileged access to organizational databases&monitoruser access and security.
Develop andmaintaindatabase documentation to include updating existing and creating newSOPs, TTPs, logical architecture diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, server lists, and other database-related documentation on monthly basis adhering to organizational templates and policies.
Produce entityrelationshipand data flow diagrams, and database normalization schemas that are logical to physical data maps and data table parameters.
Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans, ensuring that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery proceduresfunctioningcorrectly(monthly integrity testing no less than 10%of database backups on supported networks).
Conduct capacity planning andassiststorage and architecture design.
Review “Database Daily Checks” list on IT Portal and complete Daily System Checks assigned,includingperformance, data integrity, and availability checks created daily on SIPRNET portal with required actions;complete checks and update lists with status and actions taken to resolve issues.
Review “Database Restore Checks” list on IT Portal and complete random testing, includingensuring integrity of database backups and abilities to meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) by regularly testing backups.
Notify Government of any unscheduled system outages within 30 minutes of each occurrence and add to operations log within 4 hours.
Provide after-hours on-site support to respond to system/application malfunctions;escalateunresolvedissuesto Project Manager.
Ensureconfiguration management data updated within1business day of any modification or update of infrastructure.
Provide restoration services sufficient to ensure high availability.
Monitor and assume responsibilityoftrouble tickets assigned to Database Administration branch, assign specific tickets for resolution, and prioritize tickets in line with organizational goals ofmaintaining99% system availability rate.
