The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) protects all Ohioans by safeguarding plants and animals, conserving natural resources and supporting farmers. ODA is a cabinet-level agency reporting to Governor DeWine. Our mission includes protecting food safety, farmland, soil health, water quality, and enforcing weights and measures standards. ODA serves 94 county and independent fairs and oversees statewide lab safety and compliance. ODA’s campus is located in Reynoldsburg on 158 acres. What We Do: We strengthen the state with the help of our 19 divisions and programs to ensure products are safe, protect agriculture, and support consumers and communities. What You’ll Do: You will learn about agriculture from our subject-matter experts and contribute as part of a team focused on a cleaner, safer, and better Ohio. This position is responsible for: Acts as second managerial level in ODA’s Office of Information Technology; works under administrative direction of the CIO; assists in defining IT goals and objectives; acts on behalf of and represents the CIO Provides oversight of design, documentation, implementation, support, and costs of IT computing, networking, cybersecurity, data governance, data analytics, and telecommunications systems Serves as lead technical resource in supporting IT engineering, construction, and support activity Prepares and publishes quality-of-service reports and maintenance notices Plans, develops, implements, and oversees change control processes Develops, implements, utilizes, and maintains processes in assigned program areas (e.g., system management, system security, cybersecurity, data governance, data analytics) Maintains system security processes (e.g., access control, authorization, and management within systems) Creates and manages cybersecurity processes to ensure the ODA framework remains secure Oversees data governance processes (data storage, use, lifecycle & retention, accessibility, protection of PII & CPI) Utilizes and oversees data analytics to improve processes Maintains interfaces with other divisions and departments Plans, develops, implements, and oversees IT property management systems and audits Coordinates IT equipment needs and procurement with vendors Manages ODA Teams channels within Microsoft Teams Represents the agency on committees and boards; acts as CIO in the CIO’s absence when assigned Attends seminars, trainings, and travels for meetings and conferences Oversees and implements special projects and provides training and direction to staff in other divisions/offices

Qualifications Experience/education requirements are listed in the position description. Typical qualifications include: 8.5 years (102 months) of experience commensurate with job duties and required knowledge/skills; 18 months in project management Alternatively, completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science or related fields with specified courses in programming, math, databases, systems analysis & design, and data processing concepts; plus 78 months additional experience and 18 months project management Or 12 months experience as Information Technology Supervisor 3 or equivalent, with extensive related experience and certifications as defined in the position description Equivalent minimum qualifications may apply
