The salary range for this position is $63,040.84 to $103,812.28 for Schedule A, and $ 63,040.84 to $98,621.65 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B. The New Jersey Judiciary Information Technology Office is a nationally recognized leader in the development of innovative technology solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the courts. We are expanding our team to include a Junior AI Applications Developer who will play a key role in advancing artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives and supporting AI-powered applications. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI tools and technologies, contributing to the modernization of Judiciary operations and services. As a Junior AI Applications Developer, you will participate in the complete AI software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The Analyst will build applications using Spec driven methodology. The role will engage with business users and contribute to proof-of-concept projects and multiple development streams. Our environment includes AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, AWS Transform, Playwright, and various large language models (LLMs). This role is ideal for candidates with foundational programming skills who are eager to learn and grow in the rapidly evolving field of AI and machine learning. REMOTE WORK : The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 3 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. Example of Duties
Design, develop, and support AI-powered applications using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, AWS Transform, and Playwright, through the entire software development lifecycle (e.g., requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, deployment, and maintenance). Build agentic AI workflows to enhance the efficiency of our business and technical operations. Participate in evaluation of AI tools and vendors to further our AI capabilities Assist in the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities into new and existing Judiciary systems. Participate in re-engineering efforts to modernize legacy applications with AI-driven features. Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective AI solutions. Continuously learn and apply emerging AI technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance Judiciary operations. Develop skills in AI, machine learning, and related technologies to support ongoing and future projects. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Preferred Qualifications
Junior-level programming skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, React or similar languages). Familiarity with AI tools, large language models (LLMs), or machine learning concepts is a plus, but not required. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced, innovative environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in a field related to computer science, information technology or the area to which the applicant is applying, such as information systems, human-computer interaction, interactive media, software engineering, computer networking, business analytics, data analytics and/or cybersecurity.
Substitution:
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional IT technical experience or experience related to the area to which the applicant is applying on a year for year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. A bachelor's or associate degree in any field from an accredited college or university and one year of additional paraprofessional and/or professional IT technical experience or experience related to the area to which the applicant is applying may be substituted for the required education. A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to computer science, information technology or the area to which the applicant is applying, such as information systems, human-computer interaction, interactive media, software engineering, computer networking, business analytics, data analytics and/or cybersecurity may be substituted for the required education.
