Job Overview The Roanoke City Sheriff's Office (RSO) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Content Creator with experience in video and image editing. This role is essential in strengthening the RSO's brand identity through high‑quality content creation and effective communication strategies.

Essential Responsibilities
Produce engaging and high‑quality video and image content for RSO social media platforms.
Utilize advanced editing skills with editing software to create polished and professional media.
Attend meetings, training sessions, and events to capture A and B roll content.
Oversee the creation, editing, and publishing of agency podcasts, ensuring alignment with RSO communication goals.
Work closely with the Public Information Officer and other communication and creative service specialists to ensure consistent and effective brand messaging.
Maintain a portfolio of completed work and continuously update it with new projects.
Ensure all content meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Film, Media, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional experience in video and image editing.
Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.
Strong knowledge of content publishing for social media platforms.
Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of content creation and editing.
Ability to work effectively within a team, particularly with the Public Information Officer and other communication professionals.
Willingness and ability to travel to various locations for meetings, training, and events as needed.
Strong creative vision and the ability to translate ideas into compelling visual content.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, communications, journalism, film, media, marketing, broadcasting, or a related field supplemented by two or more years of related experience and/or training in law enforcement, editorial work, or marketing. Must have demonstrated experience in audio/video production methods.
Language Skills Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken. Bilingual candidates are eligible for a Bilingual Employee Pay Incentive. Proficient in editing content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall clarity. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of analyzing content needs and determining the best approach to meet those needs creatively. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in evaluating and improving content strategies to enhance engagement and reach.

Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The role requires good close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment Standard office hours are expected; the Digital Creator may need to work outside of regular hours to cover events or meet project deadlines. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
