Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Knowledge of ECG rhythms and interpretation. Successful completion of ECG coursework/training. Must possess an understanding of medical terminology. Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles. Must be well motivated, organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills. Effective computer and keyboarding skills. Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
Ability to learn new computer software applications. Knowledge of various business machines.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS BLS (AHA) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Registration, scheduling and performing EKGs in inpatient areas including Emergency Department as well as outpatient areas of the facility.
Practice proper lead placement and performance according to departmental procedures of adult, pediatric and neonatal EKGs. Working within EMR and cardio serve to maintain, verify, promote, confirm and enter orders, capture charges, work reports and queues and complete physician follow ups. Complete transmission, download and physician reporting of critical EKG results.
Perform quality assurance checks on equipment, adjusting parameters to obtain high quality records, calibrates and inspects/evaluates and maintains EKG equipment and disposables for proper functioning while practicing infection control and providing appropriate patient care. Continually evaluates patient flow and work assignments, makes necessary adjustments, and prioritizes work effectively.
Assist in education, training of personnel & in services as applicable and related to EKGs. Notify outpatient RT or director of any concerns, problems or quality issues as they arise. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Holter monitor & overnight pulse oximeter order verification, scheduling, registration, insurance verification and patient set up.
Support administrative and clinical staff with clerical activities including data entry, answering phones, ordering supplies, assisting patient visitors as well as other departmental and general office support as requested to maintain an orderly working environment.
