Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as an Assistant Patient Care Technician Trainee. This full-time role offers a 5-week paid training program designed to equip you with essential patient care skills under the guidance of licensed nursing staff. General Summary Under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or shift manager, you will provide direct patient care, ensuring safety and comfort for each individual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their care experience. Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making. Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.
Education A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience This program welcomes individuals without prior patient care assistant experience. Certification and License If uncertified and with less than one year of experience, attendance in the PCA Academy training program is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching. Working Conditions Expect frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasionally, interactions with hostile individuals may occur.
