Athletic Trainer
Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Athletic Director, the Athletic Trainer engages in sports medicine. Sports medicine includes injury prevention, recognition, assessment and evaluation; and the organization and administration, education and counseling of student athlete injuries. The Athletic Trainer shall serve as a liaison of physical health support to and between athletes, coaches of the athletes, athletic directors, physicians, and parents. Under the direction of a physician, the Athletic Trainer may provide treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of the student-athlete injuries. Coordinates with the Athletic Director to provide athletic training services at interscholastic events and practices deemed necessary by the Principal or their designee. Maintain records in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor's degree from a four-year CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education program or Bachelor's degree in Anatomy, Kinesiology, Physiology, Nutrition or similar field; any combination of experience, training and/or education to demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge and abilities listed in Sports Medicine or similar field; Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC) by the Board of Certification credential; at least one year working in athletic training. Licenses and Other Requirements: Must maintain a valid California Driver License and insurability to drive a District vehicle. Must possess a valid First Aid and CPR card. Completion of Athletic Taping and Bracing course (Institute of Somatic Therapy), or equivalent experience is required. Basic Water Safety Certification (desirable).
