Detail-oriented professional with strong accuracy in documentation and medication history collection 3 years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital environment preferred Two (2) years of technician experience in a retail or hospital setting/health system required High school diploma or equivalent required Active PTCB Certification (CPhT) and Louisiana Pharmacy Technician License required upon hire Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced environment Knowledge of drug names (brand/generic), dosages, and formulations Strong communication and customer service skills Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Ability to obtain required certifications (Career Ladder, CPR/BLS) within 60 days of hire Why You'll Love Working With Us: At Baton Rouge General our patients aren't the only people we take care of; we take care of our team too. This role ensures timely and precise documentation to support medication reconciliation and safe patient care.
Obtain complete and accurate medication histories using multiple sources Conduct interviews with patients and caregivers (in-person and by phone) Review pharmacy records, hospital MARs, and third-party systems to verify medications Document medication histories in the electronic health record for physician review Communicate with pharmacies, providers, and insurers to validate medication details Identify and resolve discrepancies and collaborate with pharmacists and physicians Prioritize workload based on patient care needs and departmental demands Coordinate with nurses, physicians, and care teams to identify high-priority patients Perform medication history quality audits Assist with Emergency Department medication distribution and unit inspections What Sets BRG Apart: At Baton Rouge General, we are a community of compassionate, caring individuals who set the bar when it comes to healthcare excellence.
