Overview Principal Engineer, Embedded Systems – $150K - $200K base, Smithtown, NY Power Technology Associates, Inc. has been engaged by a Long Island client to identify candidates for a Principal Engineer, Embedded Systems position in the field of embedded systems for high voltage power solutions, including development, testing and validation. Responsibilities
Hands-on support/leadership of firmware and software design for high voltage power supplies. Languages used: C, Verilog, VHDL, Assembly, C++, C#, VB6, Java, WPF, and LabVIEW; firmware developed based on RTOS. Lead/support the preparation of technical documentation, such as circuit design, test reports, manuals, technical reports, release documentation, etc. Design, development, implementation, testing and documentation of complex firmware and software for high voltage power supplies across product markets. Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and applicable specifications (industry standards and homologation requirements). Lead and support product development design reviews and approve design changes, specifications, and Software/Firmware releases.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) with 10+ years of hands-on product and technology development in power conversion and management; high voltage power conversion experience is highly desired. 7+ years leading project development teams with manufacturing exposure and demonstrated technical leadership. Experience with FPGA design using Verilog or VHDL. Experience developing digital systems including ADCs, DACs, UARTs, RS-485, RS-232, embedded Ethernet, USB, microcontrollers, DSPs, RAM/ROM/EEPROM, switching low voltage power supplies, PWM, discrete logic, and FPGAs. Proficiency with emulators, debuggers, JTAG, IDEs, and other design/verification tools. Ability to translate product requirements into digital design architecture and collaborate with analog engineers, project leaders, manufacturing, and test teams. Experience creating ECNs and performing change control of firmware and software.
