Job Summary: Deliver exceptional healthcare services by utilizing ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images for licensed practitioners. This role extends to performing Computed Tomography (CT) procedures, capturing detailed cross-sectional anatomical images. Essential Responsibilities:
Perform CT scans following approved protocols and radiologist instructions. Review patient clinical history to ensure accurate procedure alignment and documentation. Prepare and instruct patients to ensure cooperation, comfort, and optimal imaging results. Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, self, and others. Position patients appropriately, considering their comfort and ability. Assist licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques. Address patients' physical and psychological needs throughout procedures. Perform venipunctures and manage contrast media administration as prescribed. Operate and maintain CT equipment and related instruments. Evaluate image quality and adjust display parameters as needed. Initiate basic life support when necessary. Complete all required documentation and computer functions related to patient histories and exam charges. Educate patients about tests and procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including restocking supplies. Provide guidance to students and other healthcare professionals. Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives within the department. Stay knowledgeable about sterile supplies, CT imaging software, and 3D workstation functions. Manage the release of imaging media to authorized parties. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology. Proven experience as a radiographer with foundational knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Computer proficiency. Licensure and Certifications:
State certification as a radiologic technologist. Current R.T. (R) ARRT credential in good standing. R.T. (R) (CT) credential or commitment to obtain CT certification within two years of employment.
This position operates on a night shift schedule within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest United States.
