About

Our client is a trusted utility and energy provider delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions to homes and businesses. The IT Project Manager will lead complex, multi-workstream initiatives supporting retail energy systems with a focus on delivering technology projects that enhance operational performance and customer experience. This is a full-time hybrid contract position with a client based in Vienna, Virginia (Eastern Time Zone hours)paying $80–$95 per hour.
Responsibilities
Lead full project lifecycle activities, from initiation through deployment and post-implementation review.
Define project scope, goals, success metrics, and deliverables in alignment with business stakeholders.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and communication materials.
Manage project execution with governance tools such as Microsoft Project Online.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and critical-path activities.
Update stakeholders regularly on project status and escalations.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and deliverables.
Guide testing, defect resolution, deployment planning, and post-implementation reviews.
Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners in Billing, Customer Care, EDI Operations, Sales, Pricing, Supply & Scheduling, and IT.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of IT project management experience supporting complex, multi-workstream projects.
Proven ability to work across matrixed organizations, vendors, and third-party service providers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Exceptional communication skills, comfortable presenting to executives and facilitating diverse groups.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project, OnePlan, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and advanced Excel/PowerPoint/Visio.
Preferred certifications include PMP, PMI-ACP, CMMI, or equivalent.
Experience in regulated utilities or energy markets.
General understanding of GAAP O&M and Capital accounting practices.
Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
