We’re looking for a talented Application Engineer to join our team and work closely with the people team to drive key technology decisions and innovations within the People experience. Your contributions will help shape the future of our organization as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. About the Role About the Role
The DoorDash People Application team is looking for a Full Stack Engineer with demonstrated experience and knowledge in application development for talent acquisition and employee experiences. You will interact directly with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners across DoorDash to understand requirements, design, build end‑to‑end solutions, and maintain the supporting services for our applications across diverse technical areas for various people functions, all in sync with our people goals.
This will be a hybrid role and you will report to the Senior Manager, Enterprise App Engineering. Responsibilities Build tools and applications to support various people strategies Work closely with business partners to understand business strategies while aligning product outcomes to create exceptional experiences using various technology Partner with Product Managers, Analysts, Data Engineers, and other Application Engineers to collaborate on exciting projects Leverage technical and business knowledge to identify opportunities for improvements Support troubleshooting, configuration, testing, and deployment of applications to meet requirements, timelines, and execution standards Train end‑users and peers on new processes and functionality as needed Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline You have 4+ years of industry experience in software development, ideally in HR‑related applications Knowledge of frontend technologies such as JavaScript/Typescript (Node/Express), Python (FastAPI), HTML5, and CSS3, React Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, Cypress, or Playwright for ensuring code quality and reliability Experience with databases such as Postgres, MYSQL, Cassandra and scripting knowledge on SQL/PLSQL, with the ability to write complex queries and optimize database performance Strong foundation in computer science and engineering: algorithms, data structures, programming, databases, design patterns, virtualization, etc. Experience in building large‑scale microservices and applications using cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, security, and stability of system resources Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with remote team members across time zones You are outcomes‑oriented, always evaluating whether our solution or team's activities are achieving the desired, measurable impact, and continuously iterating to ensure the best solution You are an owner, always looking for opportunities to learn and better your work product You are comfortable and thrive in a fast‑paced, continually changing team‑oriented environment and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously Compensation The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee's work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
National base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado: $115,000 – $169,000 USD. Benefits DoorDash offers a comprehensive benefits package to all regular employees, which includes a 401(k) plan with employer matching, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, wellness benefits, commuter benefits match, paid time off and paid sick leave in compliance with applicable laws. DoorDash also offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, disability and basic life insurance, family‑forming assistance, and a mental health program, among others.
Paid time off details:
For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year. For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
