Job Overview Position: Section Leader – Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software Team, Woburn, Massachusetts. Onsite role requiring a U.S. Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship. The role leads a team of 15-20 engineers on defense software development initiatives. Responsibilities Provide guidance and leadership to a section of 15-20 engineers. Act as a mentor and key leader, fostering teamwork and interdependent execution. Ensure sustainment, assessment, and development of the section. Ensure team members adhere to policy, vision, values, and goals. Communicate flow‑down to section members. Collect and provide performance feedback and support year‑long goal development. Support salary and labor planning for the section. Mentor career and job assignment decisions. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in software development, integration or test, preferably in a defense environment. Proficiency in C, C++, Java or Ada. Experience managing teams or sections within a defense software development program. Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban framework in a team‑based development environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance). Preferred Qualifications Extensive experience leading software development, integration or test on a defense program. Proven success in mentoring and developing engineering talent. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. High energy, self‑starting team player who promotes continuous improvement. In‑depth radar domain knowledge (EWR, AN/TPY‑2, XBR, CK, DBR, AMDR, etc.). Software cost estimation experience. Strong strategic planning and decision‑making skills. Certifications such as Six Sigma, CORE, EVMS, Software Project Management or PMX. Security Clearance U.S. Secret security clearance required; must be obtained prior to start date. U.S. citizenship required. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 per year.
