Purpose Under direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Informatics, the primary responsibility of the Data Analyst I is to create, revise, and implement visual data representations and extractions used by leadership & healthcare providers. They diligently work to ensure visual data representations and extractions are effective & efficient in facilitating high quality clinical service delivery while empowering executive leadership with compelling, actionable, reliable, & accurate data.
Function
Uses algorithms & other tools to translate data to help the organization gain useful and actionable insights from the data to enable better decision making.
Uses creative problem-solving skills to improve visualizations of data to answer the question being asked of the data.
Use initiative to identify inaccurate or misleading data visualizations and actively search for a solution using in-house tools / techniques and current knowledge as well as searching for possible outside applications or utilities.
Develops reports, visualizations, & extracts of data that ensure timely and accurate flow of information crucial to agency workflows and fiscal operations as well as local and state reporting.
Develops specialized reports, utilizing MSSQL/T-SQL, EHR software and reporting tools, Power BI, SSRS and Crystal reporting to gain transparency and visibility into all business operations.
Work with others to define and implement processes and procedures.
Translates requirements for measurement & reporting standards into technical specifications.
Follows design and data analysis best practices.
Ensures data integrity, recommends action to maintain data integrity and data security, as well as assisting in identifying and resolving application/database problems.
Maintains transparency and communication of projects, statuses, escalation of problems as well as data overview reports for leadership.
Breaks down complex tasks into easy to follow step by step guides with graphical representation of the task in a format easy to comprehend by end users.
Provide customer support for interface and application issues and problems.
Adheres to change management policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
Demonstrates exceptional patience and calm demeaner in a high stress, demanding environment.
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and assists in crisis.
Must be physically able to lift computer equipment that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
May be required to work holidays and/or after hours on call as requested.
Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
Prerequisites
BA/BS degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or another related field preferred *** Experience may be used in place of degree ***
2+ years’ experience in information systems/EHR/data analysis preferred
2+ years’ experience in a clinical setting such as Medical, Behavioral Health, or Rehabilitation field preferred
Experience with database use and a working knowledge of database platforms, including MS-SQL, Access, etc.
Knowledge of HL7 and Java/Java Script desirable but not mandatory.
Skills
Good understanding of relational databases & data structure
Strong technical foundation in data analysis & visualization tools
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to document data workflow diagrams
Ability to work under pressure and to manage time and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must have adequate individual coping skills
Proficient in typing a minimum of 45 word per minute
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
