Role Overview Dune Security is seeking a visionary Senior Software Architect to join our team and spearhead the architectural direction of our large-scale, globally distributed systems. In this pivotal role, you will report to senior leadership and collaborate across engineering, security, and data science teams to design and implement the backbone of a platform serving millions of users worldwide. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the reliability, performance, and security of our systems, ensuring we meet our commitment to 99.999% availability and deliver an exceptional user experience. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our technical strategy and shape the future of our platform’s architecture. 3. Key Responsibilities
Architect and evolve large-scale, distributed systems to support a global user base of millions, ensuring scalability and performance. Drive the architecture of highly available systems, consistently meeting and exceeding 99.999% uptime and reliability service level objectives (SLOs). Lead the design of resilient, multi-region architectures deployed across diverse global markets to ensure high availability and regional performance. Spearhead architectural decisions across all technology layers, from application and data to infrastructure and compute, to create a cohesive and robust platform. Establish and govern architectural standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability across all engineering teams. Develop and communicate the architectural vision through clear blueprints, diagrams, and design documents for technical and executive audiences. Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, security, and AI, to deliver architectures that are secure, scalable, and operationally excellent. Guide the long‑term technical roadmap, including platform evolution, strategic capacity planning, and proactive management of technical debt.
4. Qualifications Required
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior engineering or software architecture role, with a proven track record of owning and operating large-scale, globally distributed production systems. A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Expert‑level, demonstrable proficiency in AWS, including global networking, multi‑region design, security, and cost optimization. Advanced programming skills in Python, Golang, and C, with experience in designing and reviewing production‑grade code. Hands‑on experience with NVIDIA CUDA and a strong understanding of GPU‑accelerated workloads. Industry‑recognized certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect (Professional), AWS Advanced Networking, AWS Security Specialty, NVIDIA CUDA certifications, or other equivalent senior‑level credentials. Must be able to work on‑site in our New York City office four days per.
Preferred
8 or more years of experience in a senior architecture role. Demonstrated experience with a variety of architectural paradigms, including microservices, service mesh, event‑driven, and edge computing architectures. In‑depth knowledge of modern compute architectures, including the practical applications and tradeoffs of GPUs, LPUs, TPUs, and QPUs. Experience in architecting and supporting AI/ML systems, including training pipelines, inference services, and GPU scheduling. A strong background in data architecture, including experience with distributed databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching strategies, and data consistency models. Familiarity with architectural tooling such as Lucidchart and diagrams‑as‑code. Exceptional communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to convey complex architectural concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

You bring a proven track record of architectural ownership, with extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, globally distributed systems that serve millions of users. Your deep, hands‑on expertise in cloud and compute technologies includes a mastery of AWS services, NVIDIA CUDA, and a comprehensive understanding of modern compute architectures from GPUs to QPUs. A polyglot programming background with advanced skills in Python, Golang, and C is essential, alongside your architectural versatility across microservices, service mesh, and event‑driven systems. We are looking for a leader with a collaborative and communicative mindset who can influence and align technical and executive stakeholders around a clear architectural vision. Your work will be guided by an unwavering commitment to 99.999% reliability and Zero Trust security, applying your strategic thinking to guide the long‑term evolution of our platform, manage technical debt, and mentor our engineering teams. Base Salary: A competitive base salary ranging from $135,000 to $180,000, depending on experience and scope. Exact compensation will be based on experience, skills, and alignment with Dune’s compensation philosophy.
Location: NYC. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of our Tribeca, Manhattan office. Hours: Full time. 4 days in office.
