This is a highly cross‑functional role at the intersection of content, data, and machine learning, partnering closely with ML engineers, product teams, and data stakeholders to bring metadata‑driven experiences to life.
Responsibilities Include
Design, build, and maintain backend services that support content understanding, metadata modeling, and enrichment workflows.
Contribute to systems that process and manage metadata for a large‑scale, global content catalog.
Maintain and expand the API layer and data models across two provider contexts (Paramount+ and PlutoTV) as the codebase converges toward a unified multi‑tenant architecture.
Uphold engineering quality through test coverage, code reviews, and consistent application of coding standards.
Support editorial curation workflows that feed the personalization experience, ensuring curators have the tooling and data quality needed to make effective content decisions.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong proficiency in a Python web API and ORM framework (Django/ORM/DRF preferred).
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure including managed databases, object storage, and API design with backwards compatibility across multiple consumer teams.
Relational data modeling for transactional systems and instrumentation to surface anomalies early.
Awareness of data drift so that quality issues are caught before they propagate downstream.
Additional Qualifications
Django and Django REST Framework for production backend applications.
Google Cloud Pub/Sub subscriber/publisher patterns.
Elasticsearch index management, full‑text search, mapping updates.
Experience building content metadata management systems.
Exposure to personalization, recommendation systems, or ML‑adjacent platforms.
Experience working in event‑driven architectures, designing systems around async.
What We Offer Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 – $150,000.00. Compensation is commensurate with experience and location.
