About
As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will work alongside experienced IT professionals to support servers, networks, user systems, and technology infrastructure while helping ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations across the College. This role provides exposure to a variety of technologies and offers opportunities for continuous learning, professional growth, and skill development.

Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to established standards, while seeking guidance for complex issues.
Perform and own routine system maintenance activities including patching, updates, log reviews, and system health checks, taking corrective action when needed.
Implement and maintain OS hardening standards and security configurations following organizational policies and industry best practices.
Assist Active Directory and Entra ID administration, including:
User account provisioning/deprovisioning
Group membership updates
Basic Group Policy support
Monitor system performance, availability, and alerts; troubleshoot and resolve common issues independently, escalating more complex problems when necessary.
Develop and maintain basic automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Maintain and update system and operational documentation in alignment with established architecture standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for the IT team.
Execute established patching schedules and assist with deployment validation and reporting.
Support and perform backup operations, assist in recovery activities, and contribute to disaster recovery testing and documentation.
Maintain compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FERPA), identifying and addressing basic compliance gaps.
Administer and support core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and network configurations.
Support Microsoft 365 administration, including:
User support and troubleshooting
License assignment and tracking
Basic security and compliance configurations
Review vulnerability scan results and perform remediation of low‑to‑moderate risk findings, escalating higher‑risk issues as needed.
Investigate endpoint alerts (antivirus, EDR, monitoring tools) and take appropriate action or escalating based on severity, escalating higher‑risk issues as needed.
Identify and assist in remediation of unauthorized or non‑compliant devices in the environment.
Generate reports on user activity, group membership, and system health as requested.
Follow documented change management procedures when implementing system updates or changes.
Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and operational consistency.
Participate in IT and InfoSec meetings as needed and support audit preparation activities.
Stay current with foundational technologies and participate in training and professional development.
Support forms and system‑related administrative processes with increasing independence.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification(s) related to systems administration or training and/or 3 years related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in information technology or a related field
