Job Overview The EVS Mobile Utility Technician is responsible for the transport, deep cleaning, and disinfection of non‑clinical surfaces, including IV poles and Workstations on Wheels (WOWs). This role performs cleaning only after all medical devices, electronics, batteries, and cords have been removed by the applicable hospital department. The Technician ensures equipment is clean and staged for use to support clinical readiness across the organization.
Daily Responsibilities
Manage equipment workflow including pickup, transport, cleaning, and disinfection of designated non‑clinical equipment
Perform deep cleaning and disinfection of IV poles, Workstations on Wheels (WOWs), and other non‑clinical surfaces using hospital‑grade disinfectants and approved SOPs
Verify that all medical equipment, electronics, and powered modules have been removed by the applicable hospital department prior to beginning the cleaning process; if equipment remains, tag the unit and escalate to management for proper handling
Record and report daily metrics: number of pieces cleaned and items needing further attention
Ensure inbound units needing cleaning are placed in the proper staging areas and tagged with required processing information
Perform other tasks or projects as requested by management
In addition to the core duties described above, the EVS Mobile Utility Technician may be called upon to assist as needed with housekeeping functions including but not limited to the following:
Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas.
Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Dusts furniture and equipment.
Polishes metalwork.
Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
Empties wastebaskets.
Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
Set up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
Job Qualifications
Successful applicants for this position must be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 as a condition of employment.
Experience in the janitorial industry a plus
Medical cleaning a plus
Post‑Offer Medical, Background Screening and Drug Test required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The Utility Tech wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations. Employee will be required to mix chemicals requiring special clothing or safety equipment.
