Employment Status FT Full-Time Full Time/Part Time Full Time Benefits Yes Months per Year 10.5 Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Evaluates physical condition and advises and treats collegiate athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition. Prevent, treat, and care of injuries and illnesses to all athletes, and to coordinate the entire training program by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer will: Inform and implement injury prevention measures for each athlete. Care for all injuries or illnesses of each athlete. Treat and rehabilitate injuries and illnesses to each athlete. Prescribe physical conditioning for each athlete in order to prevent injuries and help him/her maintain good physical stamina. Obtain and file physicals for all South Plains College athletes. Determine the physical status of an injured athlete. Serve as liaison between the college and the team physician in diagnosing and treating all athletes. College Training Program Assistant Coordinator Maintain accreditation by the Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers. Teach and guide all student trainers in training techniques and requirements or state licensing.
Make sure all college athletic events are attended by himself/herself or a student trainer. Obtain placement of student trainers at four-year schools upon graduation form South Plains College. Maintain and keep an up-to-date training room. Keep abreast of modern training techniques as they are made available. Recruit student trainers for the athletic department. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer as Medical Payment Coordinator: File all family insurance information sheets for each athlete. Coordinate co-insurance of athletes' family and college medical insurance. Community Relations Support Assistant Advice and treat athletes from the surrounding area. Be available for all Class 1A regional athletic events. May include teach as many as 2 classes within the Department of Physical Education per semester. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in supervising student athletic trainers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPIERENCEBachelor's degree (B. A.), in appropriate field, from four-year college or university. Master's Degree preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts consistent with budget preparation. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited Standarization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, SPECIFIL SKILLSPossess a current, valid Texas State Trainers License Possess a current National Athletic Trainers Association Board Certification CPR and First Aid Certification Knowledge and skill of athletic injury management and rehabilitation
