About
Key player in planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and revision of Infection Prevention and Control Program goals, standards, policies and procedures. Reports communicable diseases and supporting laboratory data to the local, state and national health departments as required. Facilitates meeting applicable regulatory requirements through monitoring and reporting infection trends. Participates in epidemiological investigations of significant clusters of infection above established standards and of unusual isolates. Interacts with Occupational/Employee health to institute and maintain control measures pertaining to health care work exposures. Provides in-service education (departmental, general orientation, annual review and as needed). Participates in the develop and review of Infection Prevention and Control Standards of Care and Hospital Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in related field OR (4) years of experience in a directly related field. Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental health, microbiology or other public health related filed preferred. Certification in Infection Control preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience as an Infection Control Professional in an acute care environment. Demonstrated knowledge of microbiology, laboratory procedures, aseptic technique and epidemiological techniques. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and utilize scientific data and statistical techniques / methods; screen data results for variations and/or errors, function as liaison, instructor, consultant and coordinator with Hospital departments. Previous experience with acute care Quality Improvement programs preferred. Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills. Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written); Must be able to deal tactfully with patients, physicians and staff.
