Overview
The Decision Management Program (DMP) team is looking for a Software Engineer II to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving.
The ideal candidate will bring experience working with advanced decisioning and intelligence platforms, preferably Mastercard's Decision Management Program (DMP). DMP is an industry-leading solution that enables organizations to structure and apply complex business rules and intelligence across the payment journey to drive informed, scalable decision-making.
Experience with Authorization Decisioning is a plus. This product leverages DMP's robust capabilities and Mastercard's authorization data to analyze transactions in real time, generate actionable insights, and execute intelligent decisioning strategies. The platform's ability to both consume and apply intelligence enables organizations to quickly translate insights into operational actions that improve business outcomes.
Role
• Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, release management, configuration, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and refactor existing applications to improve performance, scalability, and code quality.
• Develop expertise in new technologies, programming languages, and architectural patterns to support evolving business needs.
• Collaborate within an Agile Scrum team to prioritize work, contribute to planning, and deliver high-quality solutions from the product backlog.
• Drive the automation of build, deployment, monitoring, and operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless customer experiences, participate in demos, and ensure solutions meet business requirements.
• Promote engineering excellence by championing coding standards, reviewing team deliverables, sharing best practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of architecture, processes, and reusable frameworks.
All About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in software development and the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong proficiency in Java and experience working with modern development tools and practices, including Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, Agile methodologies, testing frameworks, and version control systems.
• Proven problem-solving, debugging, and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a collaborative environment.
Desirable / Additional Capabilities
• Experience using Agile project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Rally.
• Exposure to cloud technologies, microservices architectures, and modern application development practices.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, programming languages, and frameworks.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and stakeholder partnership skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
