About
Perform diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols with minimal supervision Review patient history and physician orders to ensure appropriate imaging and optimal results Accurately identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol standards Document patient history and relevant details in the electronic medical record Administer oral and rectal contrast in accordance with physician orders and department guidelines Ensure all exams are properly coded, tracked in RIS, networked to iSite, and charged appropriately Operate complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, and document high-quality image data Exercise independent judgment to adjust imaging protocols and apply ionizing radiation appropriately Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, reduce anxiety, and promote cooperation Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while collaborating effectively with team members and other departments
Graduate of an ARRT-approved School of Radiologic Technology or verification of program completion with a scheduled graduation date Candidates hired prior to graduation must work under indirect supervision of an ARRT-certified Diagnostic Technologist until their degree is verified Technologists may not work in an outpatient setting until ARRT certification is obtained
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
Must be ARRT registry-eligible at the time of hire ARRT (Radiography) certification required:
Within 6 months of hire for employees hired on or after January 1, 2025 Within 12 months of hire or transfer for employees hired prior to January 1, 2025
BLS or CPR certification required:
Must meet AHA standards, including both didactic and skills components Must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Technologists may not work in an outpatient setting until ARRT certification is obtained
For New York facilities (if applicable):
Must be certified by ARRT or NMTCB Must be licensed through the New York State Department of Health
Temporary Permit (if applicable)
Must work under direct supervision of a licensed radiologic technologist Must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issuance Temporary permits expire upon the earliest of:
180 days from date of issuance Notification of license application denial 10 days after failing the licensing exam
Clearances
ARRT Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal) Act 33 Clearance (with renewal) Act 34 Clearance (with renewal) Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)
