Minimum Job Requirements:
High School Degree or GED Able to read, write, speak English and perform simple math operations. Ability to provide leadership and to oversee the work of technicians Operate hazardous equipment Knowledge of microbiology, infection control, Computerized record keeping Up to 1 year experience
Job Overview: Under general supervision, this position decontaminates, cleans, prepares, retrieves, and assists with sterilization of surgical items and equipment. As well as stores, issues, and distributes medical/surgical supplies in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Must have the knowledge and ability to use specific mechanical equipment, such as, sonic cleaners washer sterilizers, steam sterilizers, EtO sterilizers, Sterrad, and Steris and other specialized equipment. Must have basic knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and adhere to guidelines. Job Responsibilities:
Use proper sterilization methods for items being processed and complete sterilization records according to policy, including processing proper biologicals. Support and follow the required sterilization methods in alignment with established policies. Store supplies properly, check items for outdates, and ensure correct stock rotation. Place instrument trays, sets, and peel packs in their designated locations while maintaining proper storage standards. Inspect, assemble, wrap, and label instrument sets, trays, and items for processing according to policy and provided guidelines. Assemble trays accurately using the information provided for each set. Fill case carts accurately according to standards and complete STAT case carts within 15 minutes of request. Conduct decontamination and breakdown of patient equipment, instrument sets, and case carts according to established procedures and provided instructions.
