Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers services in a wide variety of specialties to meet community needs. You'll be supported as you follow your dreams and find where you belong, here at Tradition Hospital. As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service as you assist patients in receiving care. You will be the first or last person to connect with the patient, giving you the opportunity to truly enhance their experience and leave a good impression. Patients enjoy communicating with the transporters because the conversation is not clinically focused and can help to get their mind off of why they are there. In this role, you will quickly become familiar with all areas of the hospital while leaving lasting impressions on patients and visitors. A caregiver in this position works variable shifts with an average of 20 hours per week from Monday through Friday, 5:30am to 11:00pm with the availability to work rotating weekends and holidays. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
Transfer patients to and from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers.
Transport patients during discharge to the hospital lobby.
Ensure proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patients.
Approach and help patients and visitors.
Verify and confirm standard precautions and correct patient identification by comparing information from the pager and patient wristband to obtain the correct medical chart and verify proper mode of transportation.
Disinfect and maintain equipment.
Perform environmental and safety checks, identify malfunctioning equipment, document findings and report malfunctioning equipment.
Move and deliver equipment and linen carts.
Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working with some exposure to communicable disease.
Ability to move/transport up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.).
Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
