Assistant Speech Coach The Assistant Speech Coach supports the Head Speech Coach in developing and maintaining a successful speech program. The assistant coach works directly with students in individual and group speech events, helps prepare participants for competitions, supervises practices and events, and contributes to a positive, inclusive, and student-centered environment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assist the Head Speech Coach in planning and conducting practices, rehearsals, and workshops. Coach students in speech performance techniques, public speaking skills, interpretation events, and contest preparation. Provide individual and small-group instruction and feedback. Help students select, develop, revise, and rehearse contest materials. Assist with preparation for Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) competitions and other speech events. Supervise students during practices, performances, competitions, and travel activities. Support tournament registration, scheduling, logistics, and event coordination. Monitor student participation and assist with maintaining eligibility requirements. Promote positive teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration. Assist with recruiting and retaining student participants. Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach, Activities Director, or administration.
