Perform all Nursing Aide procedures as directed in accordance with job description and instructions from Charge Nurse. Conduct resident rounds as assigned with oncoming or outgoing shift. Identify resident problems and report them immediately to a licensed nurse. Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately within the shift. Deliver direct care to residents, providing rehabilitative care when directed and necessary and render care in accordance with the Nursing Care Plan. Assist residents with bath, oral care, dressing/undressing, toileting, perineal care, catheter care, grooming, eating and checking vital signs. Perform light housekeeping chores in order to keep the residents' room and unit within the standards of neatness and cleanliness required by organizational standards and regulatory agencies. Ensure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service area. Supervise and assist residents with prescribed meals as needed and feed residents who cannot feed themselves. Record accurately and timely, the care provided to the resident. Observe infection control procedures relating to nursing. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, nurses, other nursing assistants, physicians, nurse practitioners, families, administration, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers. Other duties as directed by the Wellness Director and/or Administrator.
Qualifications & Experience:
Must possess current, active Nurse Aide Certificate from Texas Department of Health and must keep Certificate current. Must be in good physical and mental condition and willing to work with the aged population. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and be able to handle residents based on whatever maturity, cognitive and medical/physical level they are currently functioning. Must have the ability to work despite frequent interruptions. Must be able to read and write English with clarity sufficient to communicate with residents and teammates, follow instructions, identify materials from their labels and understand their directions for use. Must be able to take directions and supervision, follow directions and to work on a team providing care and general functions of a nursing unit. Experience working as a caregiver in a memory care community is preferred. Must have a service-minded approach to all aspects of the job. A passion for working within a senior living community and within an Assisted Living and Memory Care community is essential.
