About
Independently implements the nursing process with patients in the Peri-Operative department. This includes the operating room, the endoscopy room, the pre-operative area, the PACU and the post-operative department. Responsible for carrying out physicians and APP orders regarding diet, medication and treatment. Performs assessments, monitors patients, provides appropriate care and patient interventions, and ensures patient safety and quality care through performance improvement activities that demonstrate positive outcomes. Reports on physiological and mental health status of patients. Documents nursing care and interventions in medical records. Distributes and maintains records of controlled drugs and insures their security. Maintains records and makes reports as appropriate. Makes decisions in patient care and clinical cases. Responds to emergencies. Delegates, directs, and supervises implementation of care plan to (LPN, PCT, CENA, or – REMOVE) other health care workers, including PCTs, CENAs. Supports the development of self and other associates through mentoring, preceptorship, and peer review. Accountable for professional development. Educates patients/families regarding treatment, nursing plans and any related patient care issues Demonstrates knowledge and use of Peri-Operative equipment and supplies to deliver the highest quality of patient care. Required to take additional on-call hours to meet department needs
Job Requirements General Requirements: Currently Licensed with the State of Michigan to practice as a Registered Nurse Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Current ACLS and PALS Certification preferred Work Experience: Surgical nursing experience preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, other department and hospital staff.
