About

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Department Leadership, Medical Staff, and Medical Director, the Hyperbaric Technician will be responsible for administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the referring provider. The technician is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems, and for maintaining safety standards recognized by the industry. The hyperbaric technician will assist in the delivery of any additional patient care appropriate to the level of his/her training including wound care. Additionally, the technician will assist with scheduling appointments, obtaining insurance benefits, authorizations and referrals.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Contributes to the implementation of the patient plan of care. Contributes to the evaluation of the patient plan of care. Contributes to the efficient operation of the Wound Center. Demonstrates commitment to personal career growth and competency. Prepares, educates, and orients patients for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Monitors and controls the performance of the hyperbaric chamber equipment, monitors patient responses and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure patient safety and safe, effective use of equipment. Makes appropriate data entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits and keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation. Performs other related duties as required and directed. Performs miscellaneous office duties including answering phones, filing, photocopying, typing reports, sorting mail and ordering supplies Accurately prepares and enters patient charges via computer Responsible for contacting insurance carriers to verify the patient's eligibility and benefits Qualifications: Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certified or licensed in a health care profession such as Medical Assistant, Nurse Aide, LPN, Respiratory Care, EMT, paramedic, etc. Two (2) years in a health care setting. BLS certification by the American Heart Association within three (3) months of hire. Preferred: NONE Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent organizational skills. Computer experience in Word processing, database input and spreadsheets. Demonstrates the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities in age-specific categories being served: pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric
Position/Subsidiary Specific: Must complete an Introductory to Hyperbaric Medicine upon hire, prior to participation in any hyperbaric activities.
