Job Description Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers the excitement of a lively community while being a fifteen-minute drive from the serenity of Avila Beach, known for their natural hot springs, and Pismo Beach, known for their sand dunes and eucalyptus trees. Featuring a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle San Luis Obispo offers much to be had. Job Summary: Assists in providing direct, and in-direct patient care under direction of appropriate personnel or leadership (e.g. registered nurses and providers). Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation. Acts as a clinical resource for students, those being oriented and volunteers. This position is represented by SEIU. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Required Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required
Essential Functions:
Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation within the EMT scope of practice. Collects, records and communicates basic patient data, current and changing status as needed. Cleans, inspects, assembles and sterilizes trays and equipment in accordance with established departmental procedures. Takes immediate and appropriate action upon occurrence of emergency situation within job description and policies. Participates in continuing/advanced education which demonstrates employee commitment to improving capabilities. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
