Physical Therapist Assistant The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) supports the delivery of high-quality physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. In this role, you'll implement treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist, assist patients in achieving functional goals, and ensure care aligns with Health at Home's standards and regulatory requirements. Your focus will be on providing compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes independence and improves quality of life. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Implement Treatment Plans: Carry out physical therapy interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring adherence to the established plan of care. Monitor and Report Progress: Observe patient responses to treatment and promptly report changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist. Educate and Support: Instruct patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and home programs as directed by the Physical Therapist. Collaborate with Care Team: Communicate effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care. Document Accurately: Complete timely and accurate documentation of treatments and patient progress per organizational and regulatory standards. Assist with Equipment: Help patients with the safe use of assistive devices and therapy equipment. Participate in Meetings: Attend care conferences, in-services, and team meetings as required. Maintain Competency: Demonstrate ongoing proficiency in PTA skills and techniques through continuing education and compliance with state licensure requirements.
Position Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Active, unencumbered PTA license in the state(s) of practice. Current CPR certification by an organization-approved provider. Preferred: One year of clinical experience in home health or related setting. Continuing Education Requirements: Organization personnel are expected to comply with mandatory continuing education and development activities as outlined in policy. All personnel must participate in minimal mandatory educational activities and programs, including but not limited to: Corporate Compliance and OSHA/Infection Control. Personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for educational activities to maintain and enhance job-related skills and abilities. Organization personnel are expected to participate in additional appropriate continuing education as requested and/or required by their immediate supervisor. Licensed professionals are expected to be familiar with and meet all competency and educational requirements as outlined in state regulations for each state in which they hold a license.
Environmental and Working Conditions: Environmental Conditions: May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions. Working Conditions: May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed or occasionally exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. OSHA exposure category: Category I — Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues. Required Personal Protective Equipment: as required by working conditions.
