Employment Type: Full time Shift: Evening Shift Description: Schedule: 2:30pm-11pm Summary: Blood draws throughout the house as well as responding to MTP, receiving blood and non-blood specimens in the laboratory from all units. Job Title: Phlebotomist Employment Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week Shift: 2:30pm - 11:00pm Location: St. Mary Medical Center As a Phlebotomist you will:
Properly identify outpatients by verbal confirmation and positive identification system.
Properly identify the inpatients using the hospital identification wristband and scanner
Properly identify and labels patients' specimens for Blood Bank testing using the positive patient identification system.
Properly identify patients and adequately performs venipunctures and/or skin punctures.
Use appropriate aseptic technique to draw blood cultures
Clearly and accurately label all specimens immediately after venipuncture and completes necessary documentation
Evaluate specimen adequacyReceives specimens in the computer and deliver them to the appropriate department
Monitor inventory levels and follows appropriate protocol for re-ordering supplies
Delete or cancel orders as necessary with full documentation of reason and colleague they spoke with.
Collates request, answer the telephone, deliver specimens to appropriate department and operate the pneumatic tube.
Consistently assume responsibility for calls, correctly answers questions, directs inquiries and takes messages
Adapt work schedule to meet emergency staffing needsIs responsive, courteous, respectful and cooperative in completing tasks
Collect TIMED and STAT tests within designated time period
Maintain supplies, carts, workstations in a neat, clean and orderly manner
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications :
High School Diploma/Equivalent required
Phlebotomy Certification preferred
