Perform duties in line with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Report equipment malfunctions.
Establish effective communication and professional relationships.
Assist with unit activities (e.g., responding to call lights, passing meal trays, transporting patients).
Receive and act on feedback; identify and communicate learning needs.
Participate in self-review and improve knowledge, skills, and performance.
Communicate clearly with the healthcare team and understand cultural diversity.
Support workplace safety and maintain productive relationships.
Perform nursing assistant core responsibilities (e.g., ADLs, point of care testing, vital signs, telemetry monitor application, HAC & PSI prevention, urine specimen collection).
Provide direct patient care as directed by the RN.
Maintain a safe and organized environment.
Acquire and distribute supplies and equipment.
Deliver patient nourishments and mail; provide diversional activities.
Document in medical records and complete clerical functions.
Comply with safety policies and procedures.
Adhere to patient care and hospital information policies.
Respond to emergent situations and provide companionship/supervision as required.
Suggest and support departmental changes; assume responsibility for assignments.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant or EIC training program
Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
Licensure/Certification/Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
Act 34 Criminal Clearance
